Saints, it’s our second year of anniversary!
Saints, I am so at awe about what God’s done and is doing through podcast. Just think, if I haven’t done what God’s called me… I would have missed the opportunity to say Thank you for listening in and if this is your first time Praise God. Welcome.
Saints, just think about it… use me as your inspiration… just do what God’s called you to do.
1:45 - By the way…who you are? (pause) Nope, you see you didn’t do that right. You are a child of the True and Living God, who upholds you with His Righteous Right Hand. You serve a powerful God! Now say who you are loudly and with passion. Who are you? (Pause)… that’s better.
3:01 - So now that we clarified that. How do you show, act out, who you are or for that matter, what you believe?
3:22 - And another author, Jordan B. Peterson, who wrote 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos put it like this, “You can only find out what you actually believe (rather than what you think you believe) by watching how you act.”
3:43 Now, let’s talk more about that. Is what you believe, different than how you act? Now on to the Intro…
4:37 - Welcome to Hanging Out With Jesus Podcast for believers who know what God’s called you to do but you need some help in getting it done or even started. Saints, my hope is that these tools cause you to stop and hangout with Jesus. So come walk with me as we intentionally hang out with Jesus.
7:13 - Let’s pray…
8:38 - There’s a song that says “Count Your blessing, name them one by one.” Well let’s see.
9:29 - What about you? Can you name your blessings? Take a few minutes now. (Pause – 1 minute) Hey, I’d like to hear, send me a note at lyvitabrooks.com/contact.
10:30 - Even though this should be a time of celebration for the podcast, I am having mixed feelings. Our world is going through what Jesus call in Matthew 24: 6-8, “the beginning of birth pains.”
Matthew 24: 6 – 8 reads:
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.”
11:14 - Saints, we have the Russian Ukraine war occurring, fear has been gripping believers and causing segregation and even bullying, politic unrest in democratic countries where people’s rights have been taken away, even fear of being different or going against public opinion has been tearing our countries apart, and mental illness and suicide is on the rise.
11:47 - Saints, let’s take another breathe…(pause – pray) “Oh LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out to you, let my prayer come before you, incline your ear to my cry. For our world is full of troubles, wars, pestilences, destruction, fears, hopelessness, lost souls and not enough laborers in the harvest. Make haste, O Lord to deliver us. To deliver the Ukraine people, to unhardened the heart of President Vladimir Putin and give him a heart of flesh towards the Ukraine people. To deliver those who are lost in mental illness and thinking that they are not valued or are powerless. To deliver from the fears caused by a pandemic. For Lord you hear the needs of your people. May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. May whose who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great.” For you are our help and our deliver, O LORD, do not delay! Come quickly. In Jesus name, Amen.
This free downloadable will provide tips, examples and places for having quiet time with the Lord, rather it’s a staycation or a vacation.
13:25 - The part of Matthew 24: 3-8 that gives me hope is verse 6 “but see to it that you are not alarmed.”
13:40 - Jesus was talking to His disciples and this was His response to their question about what will be the sign of His returning and of the end of the age. The key is that He told us to not be alarmed. That reminds me of what God told Joshua after Moses passed, “Don’t be frightened and do not be dismayed because the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” But before all of that, God told Joshua, as I am reminding you now, “Meditate of the scriptures day and night, be careful to do according to what’s written in it and God’s commanding us to be strong and courageous.” He said that 3 times in Joshua 1: 1-11.
14:51 - Saints, did you get that? We aren’t to be alarmed about what is going on in this world, and for that matter, what’s happening around us because Jesus told us that this was going to happen. When you know something is going to happen, you prepare for it right? Well Jesus didn’t leave us hanging. He told us what will happen and what we should do. If you keep reading Matthew 24: 9-15:
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will fall away[a] and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
16:11 - Saints that brings to my mind Matthew 28:19 to 20 and Joshua 1: 6-7, 9. Saints, we are to go make disciples and do according to all God’s called you to do. We aren’t supposed to sit back and be frightened and dismayed but strong and courageous.
What’s God Impressed on your heart to do?
16:36 - So what has God impressed on your heart to do? I remember reading Kathie Lee Gifford’s (some of you remember the Regis and Katie Lee Morning Show) book called, It’s Never Too Late, where she talked about how the Lord impressed on her heart to go tell Howard Stern that she wished him well on his new show. At this time he was her enemy, for years belittling her and yet she didn’t know why. But she did what God told her to do. This resulted in his apologizing to her for his verbal comments and letting her know that he’d been a jerk. He just couldn’t believe how nice she was to him.
17:47 - So, God has brought you out of 2020 & 2021 and what did you learn? Did your faith increase? Did He share something impossible for you to do? Or did He ask you to do something you don’t want to do because after you analyzed it and rehashed about the past you are very clear that He didn’t tell you to do that thing He’s called you to do, like share the gospel with your neighbor.
21 Day Fast and Prayer Results
18:34 - Something to think about.
18:37 - In February, I did a 21 day Fast and Prayer. And let me tell you, fasting and prayer is something the adversary does not want you to do. It was only by the Mercy and Grace of God that I persevered because at times it was getting rough.
19:29 - Let me start by saying, I was one of those people who said, “I’m not doing that to God.” Yeap, big bold, arrogant, stubborn, selfish, little old me. And I’ve seen what God can do when you follow Him. But rehashing, past experiences, doubts, fear of losing precious time, all that stuff became more important than doing something that I should have been joyful about.
20:17 - Saints, I love teaching the Bible, but for some reason doing it every week overshadowed, my love for Bible study and God.
20:33 - And yet, here I am telling God to use me, and I want to do what He’s called me to do the way He wants me to do it, and be the teacher and writer He’s designed me to be, intentionally and with a purpose. And here I am saying, “I ain’t teaching every week. That’s going to take up more of my time. I’m retired. It just doesn’t make sense.”
21:07 - Some of you know what I’m talking about. Other are too proud to admit it because of their “holier than thou” attitude. Here’s my point. Many of you are sitting on ministry ideas, inventions, cures, stories that need telling, debating that needs debating, and so much more. But you aren’t doing them because like me, past experiences, it’s too hard, where am I going to get the money to live, that’ll change my whole lifestyle, I’m better than that, Lord I know you aren’t asking me to do that… any of that sound familiar? What about, Lord, I’ll get started on that tomorrow? And yet tomorrow never comes.
22:21 - You know our God is patient and He’s kind. He’s faithful and loving. And He’s a merciful God. I could just hear Christ Jesus saying, “Father, I’ve got you covered in the blood.” We serve an awesome God. Saints, it’s not about us but Christ Jesus.
22:53 - We are strong and courageous because He was strong and courageous in giving His life in exchange for our sinful, lawless, arrogant ways.
23:09 - Saints, let me encourage you. It’s time to go and do. Stop trying to do. Just go! Your testimony is enough. Some of us will go through several ministries before we hit our stride, others may be doing it but want make the connections until you let go of a few things, like selfishness, greed. Either way, the point is the same, just, go and do what God’s directing you to do!
24:28 - You are not alone, there are others who are going down this journey of beginning something new, branching out into new adventures, climbing mountains never attempted, but the point is, they went and did and now it’s your turn to go and do.
25:30 - I have three things coming up that I pray can be of help to you in getting started. Think of it as practice at first and then as support to help you maintain growing in Christ. Everything I’m about to mention will start in April but registration must be completed in March.
25:51 - Bible Study – April 5thnd, I’m starting a virtual Bible study called The Me Project: Who I Am and Whose I Am. It’s designed for those who want to start a solid foundation as a believer that leads to doing what God’s called you to do and helps to reignite that will to maintain it. You can find out more about it on lyvitabrooks.com/subscribe because I’m offering it to those in our email community.
26:39 - Prayer-A-Day – From April 1st to May 7th, you will receive a short prayer in your inbox. You can participate, even learn how to pray if you want to use it for that, but it’s definitely designed for you to take a moment and join another believer in prayer. One of the highlights of this is that if you want to be one of the people praying, you can, but you need to be apart of our email community at lyvitabrooks.com/subscribe.
27:43 - Create Space – This is the email community that I’ve been talking about. You see sometimes we need encouragement and other times we need tools to help us grow, mature in Christ. Create Space contains inspirational stories, and more. Including every Prayer-A-Day and new releases of the podcast. You see being a part of a community is a good thing. lyvitabrooks.com/subscribe .
28:33 - Now if you already receive Create Space, then you already know about some of this information. So no need to subscribe, but share if you think it will be a blessing for a family member, friend, acquaintance or even your enemy. Just be the opportunity for God to bring about an increase. Which simply means do what God has called you to do, rather it’s a loving word, a reprimand, taking out the trash, or teaching a Bible class, whatever it is do it and this will open the door for God to bring you a blessing, as well as others.
29:08 - Lord, have your way in the lives of your people and bring more laborers because the harvest is plentiful. In Jesus name, Amen
Saints, be an opportunity for God to bring an increase. So until we meet again over the airwaves, continue to intentionally and daily hang out with Jesus.
