Is It EVER Too Late To Find Or Begin Your Calling or Ministry?
Thursday, September 9, 2021 by Lyvita Brooks

Is it ever too late to know what you are called to do? Is it ever too late to pursue your ministry? Is it ever to late to begin building a business?

N-E-V-E-R!

And let’s be clear,  AGE is not a factor. When God gives you the vision, act on it. Time and consistency are the big hinderances because “busy” has a tendency of getting in the way.

There are so many people, over 40 that have been successful. For example, Toni Morrison won a Pulitzer Prize for “Beloved” at 56 and the Nobel Prize in Literature five years later. Raymond Chandler, an America mystery writer, at age 51 published his first book, “The Big Sleep.” Now that’s persistence.

God has a way of building you up to do what He’s called you to do. So don’t despise the age you get started. Don’t overthink if you can do it or not. Do it! God will bring the increase. God made you for a purpose. Once you begin to move forward towards doing it. He will make it even clearer to you, but you have to be in motion to receive the benefits.

Think about Moses in Exodus chapter 3. God used a burning bush to get his attention, which resulted in Moses saying, “Here, I am.” Now the rest is history. Same for you and me. God has been using some unique ways of getting our attention, but are we listening. It’s through moments of silence, listening, not trying to analyze or maneuver, that you can hear from God.

Let’s be clear. When something is highlighted in our spirit, we do one of two things: act on it or ignore it. Acting on it means you are moving toward it, finding out more about it, going in the direction of seeking it being fulfilled. Ignoring it, is seeing, not believing, and going to do something other than that.

Beginning your ministry, starting a busines, or finding your calling in God is never late. It’s on time. The point is, “Are you ready?”

Take The Spiritual Assessment Checklist to help you gauge where you are in walk with Christ and then develop your next steps.

What spiritual discipline can you practice to help you create space in your life to commune with God about your calling or ministry? See below.

Spiritual Discipline to Practice: Silence

Place yourself in the presence of God. Be still, quieting all voices in your head and noises around you. Say, “Here I am, Lord. Your servant is listening.” As distractions come to mind, say, “beep, beep.” Then return to God repeating “Here I am Lord. Your servant is listening.” Now allow the Holy Spirit to lead your time with God in silence.

Podcast Episode to revisit: Keeping In Step With Holy Spirit or Do You Have a Relationship With Holy Spirit?

Memory Verses: Try memorizing the two verses, below, for the rest of September. Post them around the house to help you keep them near and recite in your daily prayers, when applicable. Also write them in your journal as you reflect on what Holy Spirit is sharing with you from God.

  • 2 Timothy 1:9
  • 1 Corinthians 7:17

Bible Reading: Read through 1st and 2nd Corinthians

Plan to start September 1st and read one chapter a day until you finish on day 31. I usually do my reading at night. Purchase a journal from the store or get a composition book. Record the scripture and then your thoughts. Make sure after you read, you stop and listen for Holy Spirit to speak to you. In the comment section below let me know how things are going.

Books I’m reading: Try reading 10 pages a day.

Send me a book title and author you’d like for me to read in the comment section? Also you can check me out on Goodreads.com.

Shalom!
