2:22 - Let’s pray, ( Matthew 6: 9-13)

“Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be your name.[a]
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,[b]
    on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,[c]
12 and forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.[d]

Help us Father God, to be hearers and doers of Your word who are disciples who produce disciples who also produce disciples. In Jesus Name, Amen.

3:01 - Well Saints we come to the end of a four part series. The first and second episode were in April 2023 focusing on Gideon’s calling and Joash standing up for his son. The third had to do with challenging you to do what you said you would do and standing up for other believers who are following Christ Jesus even if that meant giving up the sin that you love doing.

3:41 - In this episode we are going to discuss what happened after Gideon passed. Again, I urge you to read Judges 6 to 8 because Gideon’s story is so relatable to what’s happening in our collapsing culture today. From questioning God about why He isn’t doing something while all this mess is going on in the world, but forgetting about the sin that came about because of man’s choices, not God’s.

4:14 - I’m starting my reading closer to the end of chapter 8. Saints, please read it for yourself I am not covering everything in this four part series. Just highlighting certain points.

4:31 - Here’s what it says

 And Gideon made an ephod of it and put it in his city, in Ophrah. And all Israel whored after it there, and it became a snare to Gideon and to his family. 28 So Midian was subdued before the people of Israel, and they raised their heads no more. And the land had rest forty years in the days of Gideon.

29 Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and lived in his own house. 30 Now Gideon had seventy sons, his own offspring,[c] for he had many wives. 31 And his concubine who was in Shechem also bore him a son, and he called his name Abimelech. 32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age and was buried in the tomb of Joash his father, at Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

33 As soon as Gideon died, the people of Israel turned again and whored after the Baals and made Baal-berith their god. 34 And the people of Israel did not remember the Lord their God, who had delivered them from the hand of all their enemies on every side, 35 and they did not show steadfast love to the family of Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) in return for all the good that he had done to Israel.

5:59 - First, can I just say that this dude had 70 sons. Now seriously, when did the Gideon have time to fight?

6:26 – Ok y’all, getting back to what I want to talk with you about. Notice two things:

How the believers began whoring after the ephod?
Gideon, Jerubbaal dies and the Israelites returned again to worshiping Baal.

6:57 - Now God just taught them what happens when you turn from serving Him back in Chapter 6 but near the end of Gideon’s death during the 40 years of rest, they became lacked and made an ephod which became a snared to Gideon and his family. Then at his death, the people acted as if he never existed and neither did God.

7:22 - They went Baal-hog-happy again.

7:27 – So the question is why. Why is it that we can see God’s miracles and His hand working in our community, government, and lives and yet we are so quick to miss it because we have fallen for an idol?

7:53 - Ok let me put it another way. When President Barak Obama came to office many of us were overjoyed. For the first time a black man and his black family were in the White House, not as workers but in the highest seat of our country. The Presidency.

Finally, black folk have arrived. There was going to be peace like never before. Some of us worshipped him and for the first time other’s even prayed for a President. It seemed like Black folks were coming together. Or were we? After Former President Barak Obama left office, there were changes made that we liked and didn’t like, questioned and pondered what the new President will do with President Obama’s legacy.

9:04 - So entered President Trump. The southern Baptist were backing him left and right. There was a war brewing against denominations which turned into a race war. Didn’t you see that? Yes, I know you saw the Black Lives Matter and all that, but our focus should have been on advancing God’s kingdom, but instead we began advancing our political agenda and taking sides.

9:32 - Saints, do you see where I’m coming from? We put all this time an energy into taking political sides instead of being an example for Christ but if we don’t raise up a legacy after us, more people will fall to the prey of this world’s lies.

10:13 - There should be no President, Hollywood personality, Influencer, Thing, Person, Lucy Charm or Crystal, an image of your beauty or what you want people to think of you and your family hanging on a wall, no amount of money or praise should come between you and your God.

10:49 - We have to be viligente in our walk. Studying the Bible, without preconceived ideas have to stop. We have to spend more time with God so that we can fight the wiles of the devil and recognize when they are getting started so we can head it off.

11:20 - My brother & sister in Christ, please hear my heart, you are a vital person in the battle of advancing the Kingdom. But the only way you mission, you purpose will be completed, if you do it. God’s got a reward waiting for us all and one of them is eternal life. Who would ever guess that our eternity is dependent on what we do on earth for Christ? Don’t believe me? 12:10 - I want you to dig into God’s word, so if challenging you will get you there then so be it.

12:18 - My prayer is that these four episodes will bring you closer to digging in God’s word while spending more time with Him, at the same time.

12:30 - Our death shouldn’t be the end but the beginning of the next generation being even stronger in advancing God’s Kingdom.

12:39 - This reminds me of an evangelist whom help we grow as a believer. He was one of a few that helped build my foundation in Christ. He was Dr. Charles Stanley. He passed on April 18, 2023. Now he has left a legacy. Not just with his two children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, but with us who grew up knowing him through his books and sermons.

13:04 - Those of us who purchased his cassette tapes and applied the tools and resources he suggested to our lives. We are his legacy also. And yet it doesn’t stop there. He’s books, quotes and sermons will forever be on social media and the internet for those that don’t even know him to find him simply because they want to know more about Jesus Christ and the True and Living God. Now that’s a legacy.

14:36 - Our legacy may not look like his, but whatever it is, the point is that we are to teach others by example or in deed about the God we serve and His Son, Lord Jesus the Christ, by spreading the gospel and glorifying God.

15:00 - Here’s a paragraph I’ve taken from my book called Nuggets for Thought. It ends with the words I wrote on my mother’s obituary but I want to share them with you because it’s a part of her legacy.

15:15 – It’s title, “It’s Been a Great Journey”, here’s one of the 5 paragraphs:

“I didn’t expect to leave you at this time, but my Savior had another plan. God knows what He is doing! You will be alright because I have prayed for you in some way or another. In all you do, make sure you get to know Jesus Christ and He will show you how to best live your life.”
