Are you a hot, cold or lukewarm Christian? Answer a few questions, then take some time with the Lord to decide how to ignite your passion in order to finish strong in Christ.

Now, come walk with me, where we intentionally practice being in the presence of God. So stop what you are doin

g, “Cause it’s time to Hang Out With Jesus and me, Lyvita,

Saints, I am still studying 1st Corinthians and it’s getting gooder and gooder and gooder. (Ok that’s not a word but its cool.)

I want to focus on something that is very helpful in studying the Bible while listening to Holy Spirit.

Journaling.

It would be a good idea to get a journal or diary or electronic entry diary.  Something that can record and hold your thoughts, ponderings, questions, hopes and dreams, strategizes, ideas past and future, and “I’m going to start it today,” exercise routine in.

I enjoy being able to look back to where God’s brought me from because it reminds me that I am not alone. God is faithful. God is working everything for good in my life. God is always with me even, with the passing of my Ma. I have the evidence recorded in my journal. God leading me towards my destiny. And so much more. It’s a constant reminder that God has a reason for me to be alive. I am here for a purpose.

So, I thought this would be a good time. You know ending the summer and all that to spark you to purchase a journal from the book store, the store on my website, lyvitabrooks.com or any place that sells journals. Then take the time to record your Bible study moments, life experiences and thoughts.

It’s sort of cool picking up your soft, especially designed journal and then writing all your secret and hidden thoughts you presented to God. Whoa!

So here are some examples from my journal form 1 Corinthians chapter 1 and 2

6-14-21 – Thought: this is some rich stuff.

6-16-21 – Next Steps: Read chapter 1 in a different version

6-22-21 – “But before I pass judgement, check myself and my church. Are we called to be holy, called into fellowship and called to glorify God? If so, are we? Where are we lacking? Am I living up to my calling? Really, have believers forgotten who we are again?

6-25-21 – Who is Sosthenes? Sosthenes is mentioned twice in Acts 18 and 1 Corinthians but both times associated with Paul’s ministry. The issue is we don’t know if its two different men or the same man.

6-30-21 – The Corinth church consisted of Jews and Greeks but also the learned and unlearned because of “worldly standards”. Wisdom. I wonder what it would be like to only see people as saved or unsaved? Nothing else. No political parties, races, sex, socioeconomics, body shapes or whatever else we separate each other but simply saved and unsaved?

7-2-21 – I’ve heard a preacher say that preachers do like a dance on the pulpit when teaching but Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1: 17 and 2:1, I paraphrase, his preaching is a “demonstration” not a “performance”. He preaches not to get the glory or fame because in that the cross of Christ is emptied of its power but so that people’s faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. Apply this. Be a demonstrator in word, deed and in teaching the Gospel

7-5-21 – Faith should not rest in the wisdom of men but the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5)

Now that should give you a taste of what one can write inside their journal. Be for real, authentic and really bring out what you are thinking so that God can give you a response. Some of those days came with responses from God, but they were for me, as you will find, your response from God are specific to you. You only share them when the Holy Spirit reminds you, then they will be effective.

So let’s practice the spiritual discipline of journaling. Stop what you are doing and get your Bible and journal or pad and a pen. I am going to read 2 Corinthians 2 from the ESV aloud as you read along. Don’t mark in the Bible this time because we are practicing journaling, remember. Do you have everything? If you can’t do this, remember to come back later. Let’s begin… (Read 1 Corinthians 2. Now write down whatever comes to your mind. If nothing, then write nothing. If questions, then write it. A thought, write it. “Let’s Journal” Then put on the cicadas softly in the background for 3 minutes.)

How was that? When you get the chance look over what you have written. Anything stands out? Did anyone write down things that had nothing to do with 1st Corinthians?  Yeah, that happens. Sometimes journaling is a way of getting things off our chest. One of the best times to journal, is after a busy day, it just after you lay your head on the pillow. The thoughts come fast. So pick up your journal, have it close by before going to bed, and begin to record all that’s on your mind. The journal will be your dumping ground, so that you can sleep and all those thoughts feel validated because they are held in your journal. Your secret, hidden place for only God to see. Try it. Let me know how it turns out in the comment section of this episode.

Switching gears…I just want to let you know that I am in the process of doing some changes to the blog and my on-line business. God’s leading me to work more on the on-line business side. I was hesitant about learning how to do a webinar and now I like it. I can’t wait to see what God’s got in store for me.

Let me know what He’s doing in your life. You never know how God works unless you share your business ideas, ministry goals, or calling. And yeah, be careful who you share them with also. I don’t think I’ll put you on blast. So let me know.

Also I am going to have Kim Avery as a guest in October talking with us about praying for our businesses. CJ Hitz is coming to talk to those who want to write and Bob Gresh talking about fathers praying for their sons. Those two in September. So make sure you get on the email list at lyvitabrooks.com. The link is below. Also if there is something special you want me to talk about don’t hesitate to send me note on lyvitabrooks.com/contact.

We are the body of Christ, who serve a faithful God, by whom we were called into the fellowship of His son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord, help us never forget who you are and the God we serve. In Jesus name, Amen.

Well Saints drop a review or rate the podcast on whatever platform you are listening to now…

And until we meet again over the airwaves continue to intentionally and daily, hang out with Jesus.

Shalom!
